If you have never been to Kings Island, then you really should plan a trip! It is located just north of Cincinnati in Mason, Ohio. Over the years, the park has been nationally recognized for having one of the best kids’ areas in the world. A family-friendly park with lots for the whole family to experience. Kings Island officially opened on April 29, 1972, originally developed by Taft Broadcasting as a replacement for the flood-prone Coney Island amusement park along the Ohio River.
From the beginning, the park made a big impression with standout attractions like The Racer, a wooden roller coaster that helped spark a renewed interest in coasters during the 1970s.
Throughout the decades, Kings Island continued to grow and innovate:
- 1979: Introduction of The Beast, still one of the longest wooden roller coasters in the world
- 1990s–2000s: Expansion under Paramount, adding movie-themed rides
- Today: Owned by Six Flags, one of the largest seasonal parks in North America
- 2026: Phantom Theater: Opening Nightmare, the newest ride is a re-theming of what once was Scooby-Doo and The Haunted Castle.

📏 How to Measure Height Correctly
- Use a wall and a flat surface: Have your child stand barefoot with their back against a wall, heels touching it.
- Keep posture straight: Head, shoulders, and back should be flat against the wall, looking straight ahead. Showing kids how to do this before at the park can help get an accurate measurement.
- Use a book or ruler: Place it flat on top of their head, making a right angle with the wall.
- Mark and measure: Mark the wall lightly, then measure from the floor to the mark with a tape measure.
👟 Measure With and Without Shoes
- Most parks measure with shoes on, but not at the waterpark!
- To be safe, check both:
- Barefoot height (true measurement)
- With typical sneakers (adds about ½–1 inch)
