Guide to Height Requirements at Magic Kingdom

Planning a visit to Magic Kingdom? It’s one of the most magical places on Earth, and there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Knowing the height requirements in advance can help you plan your day more efficiently. Here’s a comprehensive guide to all the height requirements for rides at Magic Kingdom. Magic Kingdom has the most rides overall of the four parks and has the most rides without a height requirement.

No Height Requirement

Many of Magic Kingdom’s attractions don’t have any height restrictions, making them perfect for all ages. Here’s the list:

  • Dumbo the Flying Elephant
  • It’s a Small World
  • Jungle Cruise
  • Mad Tea Party
  • The Magic Carpets of Aladdin
  • The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
  • Peter Pan’s Flight

Minimum Height Requirements

Some of Magic Kingdom’s more thrilling rides do have height requirements to ensure the safety of all guests. I recommend measuring your child with shoes off first, then putting on the pair of shoes you plan to have them wear to the park. Keep in mind these should be comfortable and good for walking. Here’s what you need to know:

32 Inches (81 cm)

  • Tomorrowland Speedway (Guest at least 54 inches tall can drive. Guests who are at least 32 inches tall may also drive as long as they are accompanied by someone who is at least 54 inches)

35 Inches (89 cm)

  • Barnstormer

38 Inches (97 cm)

  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

40 Inches (102 cm)

  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
  • Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

44 Inches (113 cm)

  • Space Mountain

48 Inches (122 cm)

  • Tron Lightcycle / Run

Tips for Parents

  1. Rider Switch: If someone in your group doesn’t meet the height requirement, take advantage of Rider Switch. This allows one adult to wait with the non-rider while others experience the attraction. Then, the adults can switch without waiting in line again.
  2. Prepare the Kids: If your child is close to the height limit, prepare them for the possibility of not being able to ride. The best tip I have for those close to the height limit is to ride that ride first thing in the morning; you tend to be tallest in the morning. Also, make sure kids understand how to stand straight to get a proper measurement. This will give them the best shot at being able to ride.
  3. Do Not Force Them: Please don’t force your kids to do something they are uncomfortable with. Just because they are tall enough to ride a ride doesn’t mean they are mentally ready to ride the ride. If your child doesn’t want to ride, use the rider switch or choose a ride they are comfortable with riding.
