When you cruise one of the most important things you need to keep with you is your cruise card. It is your access into your stateroom, access to get drink or purchase anything on the cruise ship. You will need the card when you get off the ship as well as back on. Be sure not to loose your card. If you do loose your card while on the ship stop by the customer service desk and they will be able de-activate the lost card so no one can use it, as well be sure to verify your last purchases. If you were to loose your card while at port you would need to find port security and they should be able to assist you. This may take a while so as soon as you discover it is missing, ask for assistance. With the technology they use for check in most ships take a picture of you at the beginning of the cruise and as you leave it will pop up when they scan you off the ship, this helps them verify that it is you. It also helps if others in your party still have their cards.
So how do you keep your card safe?
- Lanyard -many people like the idea of the lanyard because it is easy to wear around your neck and access your card. I do like this options because I don’t always have pockets and it is big enough I generally don’t forget it.
- Magnetic Card Holder – most of us don’t go anywhere without our phones so I also like the option of a magnetic card holder. We like using this one.
- Wrist Holder – some may like a wrist band option. I have not personally tried this one but maybe I will try it out next cruise.
- Wallet – this is a great option if you are used to carrying one around.
- Small Purse – there are so many options here, I have a couple that I like to use for dinner when I may not have pockets. Side note: I do love a dress with pockets!
- Pockets – if you do choose to keep your card in your pocket, I recommend keeping it a zipped pocket.
Pro Tip: while in your room, put your card in the same place every time to be sure you don’t forget to take it with you when you leave the cabin.
With all of the options, you may need to try out a few before you find one you like. Or you may end up liking a combination. I think technology over the next several years will change things with cruise cards, but for now we need to keep our card safe.
