May the 4th Be With You: A guide to Everything Star Wars at Walt Disney World

Disney has added a lot of Star Wars over the past several years. We will explore a bit about the rides, photo pass, food and characters.

Rides

Star Tours version 2, which has been around since 2011, will take you on a trip into hyperspace. I enjoy the queue for this ride, there are some failure characters. There are times that you can wait less than 10 minutes for this ride, I recommend if you want to ride this one keep an eye on the show times the line seems to fluctuate as the shows near end. Be wear if you get motion sickness this is NOT the ride for you. There is a lot of movement while wearing 3D glasses. Overall my family gives Star Tours a 4 our of 10.

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run opened in 2019; each person is assigned a job (2 pilots, 2 engineer’s and 2 gunners) on the Millennium Falcon. Your goal is to work together as a team to succeed in the mission. As you wait, you will walk throughout the Millennium Falcon to get to the line there are some cool pictures to take along the way. This ride normally has at least an hour or longer line so I recommend riding in the morning or later in the evening. If you get motion sickness you need to be aware this ride does affect some with motion sickness. I have heard from some that if they sit in the back (gunner) they have the ability to look away from the screen if needed. My family gives this ride an 8 out of 10.

Star Wars Rise of the Resistance opened in late 2019. You will move through the story to join the resistance to battle the First Order. You will start in a transport ship if you are prone to motion sickness you can skip this part, just ask a cast member. Then moving into the main part of the ride you will encounter some amazing cast members who play their parts well just before you get into the trackless ride system. This is one of the most immersive rides, in my opinion, at Disney. My family rates this ride a 9 out of 10, except for my middle son he only gives it a 6 out of 10.

Characters

Over at the Star Wars Launch Bay you can meet a few of the beloved characters including BB-8, Chewbacca and Darth Vader one-on-one. While the wait times will vary from 10-15 minutes up to an hour or longer. BB-8 is normally the shortest line only because he is not a live action character, he is a droid that will interact with you. These are cool experiences for any age and the characters will take a few minutes to engage with you and take photos. Be sure to check your online map for updates on times for these as they can changes from time to time.

Inside Galaxy’s Edge you will find character sightings of Stormtroopers, Kylo Ren, Rey and Vi Moradi. They will engage from a far and pose for pictures. If any of these are your favourites you may have to stay for a while as they are normally not all out at the same time and will rotate around. Check your online map for updates because times do vary for when they may be making appearances.

Food

Want to try the famous Blue and Green Milk? You will want to stop by the Milk Stand in Galaxy’s Edge. The Coca Cola products in Galazy’s Edge are cool to look at but not worth the price! Ronto Roasters serves Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. The Ronto Wrap, whether morning or evening, is a great choice and is a good value. Be sure to utilise the Mobile Order functions at these locations to avoid having to wait in line! Oga’s Cantina you will need to dining reservation to eat but you can try a drink just like in the movies! But keep in mind they only have a few snacks available here.

Photo Pass

If you have the Photopass be sure to check out some of the really cool photo opportunities. One of my favourite ones is in front of the Millennium Falcon, there are normally a few different photographers available in that area. Be sure to check out the other ships closer to Rise of Resistance, there is normally a photo pass photographer here as well. Over by the Milk Stand there is a cool Tie Fighter ship that sometimes has a photo pass photographer we all love. Be sure to check the online app for time and locations available that day. Remember even if you don’t opt to purchase the Photopass the photographers will take a photo with your phone if you ask nicely! I love taking photos while in Galaxy’s Edge there isn’t a bad spot!
