With the start of the 50th anniversary starting October 1st Walt Disney World has announced more information about 2022.
New Rides and Immersive Experiences
Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind will be opening sometime in 2022. This new family roller coaster will feature the first ever reverse launch coaster at Disney and will be one of the longest enclosed coasters in the world. This coaster will be an awesome addition to Epcot. We will be sure to keep you updated as more details become available.
Star Wars Galactic Starcruise will be ready to board March of 2022. Get ready for an all immersive experience during this two night adventure on the Halcyon starcruiser on your way to Batuu. Amazingly unique rooms with spectacular food will help Batuu come to life. Bookings for this Starcruise start October 28 with special booking windows for DVC owners, season pass holders and Disney Visa card members.
Technology
MagicBand+ is set to replace the original MagicBand in 2022. Disney promises this will be next generation wearable technology. Popular functions like hands free room entry, payment for food and dining as well as Photopass will stick around. Being added are unique features such as coming to life with color changing lights, vibrations and guest recognition. You will also be able to play new games and interact with the Fab 50 statues. The firework spectaculars will have a special effect with the bands. MagicBand+ will be a fun addition to the park experience.
Disney is partnering with Amazon for a fun new interactive Disney, Pixar or Star Wars characters. When you use your Amazon Echo saying “Hey Disney” and special characters voices and stories will take you into the magic.
Food and Other Celebrations
With a plethora of special food and drink options available for the 50th. All of the parks will have unique items offered throughout both quick service and casual dinning restaurants. Some specialties include Pressed Penny Silk Pie at Casey’s Corner in Magic Kingdom, Cheese Fries with Walt’s Chili at Restaurantosaurus in Animal Kingdom and EARidescent Croissant Doughnut at The EPCOT Experience.
With an 18 month celebration Disney will surely continue to announce more for 2022. The two brand new fireworks shows at Epcot and Magic Kingdom started on October 1, 2021. A new KiteTails show at Animal Kingdom also kicked off October 1st. The long awaited Remy’s Ratatouille ride at Epcot opened up with Boarding Groups on October 1st as well.
