Set Realistic Expectations:
Disney World can be crowded and exhausting. Be prepared for long days and long lines, but also remember that it’s all part of the experience. Having a positive outlook will improve your experience! If this is your first trip or 10th trip there are so many wonderful things to experience. Just remember you are not going to be able to get to them all. This leads me to my next tip…
Create a Bucket List:
Make a list of must-see attractions, shows, and experiences. This will help you prioritise and ensure you don’t miss out on your top choices. Each trip we have taken I always ask everyone to give me one thing per park that they would be sad if we missed out on. This often includes a few Character meet and greets, rides, shows and even food related items for snacks.
Include Downtime:
Plan moments of relaxation and downtime. Enjoy a leisurely meal, take a break in the shade, or sit by the water to recharge. This one is important, you will walk a lot at Disney so giving your body a few minutes to rest is needed. If we plan to spend the whole day (park open to close) I will try to make a late lunch or early dinner reservation, it will take about an hour but it can be a huge refresh and help you get your second wind.
Try New Foods:
Disney World offers a diverse range of dining options. Be adventurous and try new foods, from exotic cuisine to unique treats. We love Epcot for trying new foods at the various festivals they have throughout the year. They are the perfect size to share and my kids have embraced trying new things while we are on vacation.
Stay Flexible:
While planning is essential, be open to spontaneity. Sometimes the best moments at Disney happen when you least expect them. Sometimes attractions get closed or lines get too long, just move on to the next thing, you can always come back.
Plan for Comfort:
Wear comfortable shoes, stay hydrated, and protect yourself from the sun. Being comfortable will make your trip more enjoyable. A couple things I always tell friends: wear lighter colors, avoid black if you can. Whatever type of shoes you choose to wear make sure they are broken in. Never ever wear brand new shoes to the parks.
Immerse Yourself in the Details:
Disney is known for its attention to detail. Take the time to appreciate the theming, architecture, and hidden gems throughout the parks. There are so many amazing things to explore at each of the parks and even the resorts and Disney Springs.
Focus on the Magic:
Embrace the enchantment of Disney. It’s not just an amusement park; it’s a place where dreams come true. There are so many ways Disney is different. Whether you have kids or not, interacting with Disney characters can be a highlight of your trip. Plan character meet-and-greets for memorable photos. Disney’s staff is there to make your trip magical. Don’t hesitate to ask questions or seek their advice —they can enhance your experience. The cast members really do make the magic!
Capture Memories:
Take lots of photos and videos to capture the memories. For myself I love to purchase the Memory Maker pass as part of my souvenir budget because for me the photos are so special.
Reflect on the Magic:
At the end of each day, take a moment to reflect on the magic you experienced. Share your favorite moments with your family. I love to hear which thing(s) everyone liked best. Sometimes the answers will surprise you! We will do this a lot of times at Dinner. It adds to the experience and gives us things to do again or put on our must-do list for next time.
